Korean organist Dong-ill Shin is back for a 2nd recital. He will play at the Orchard Road Presbyterian Church on Tuesday 10th May 2011 at 8.00pm, as part of the Pipe Works organ recital series organized by the Singapore Chapter of the American Guild of Organists (Singapore AGO) in collaboration with the German Speaking Protestant Congregation associated with Orchard Road Presbyterian Church. It will feature the 1962 J. W. Walker organ, the largest pipe organ of an English builder in Southeast Asia.
Dong-ill Shin has been hailed as “one of the leading organists of the world,” and he has dazzled audiences worldwide with his exhilarating recitals. He is a prize-winner of numerous international competitions, and was awarded the Grand Prix d’Interpretation at France’s Chartres International Organ Competition—probably the world’s most prestigious—in 2006. He has been a featured artiste on radio and television in several countries, and has performed prolifically in Europe, the USA and East Asia. His last position in the USA before returning to Korea was, Organist/Artist-in-Residence at the First United Methodist Church of Hurst, TX, and adjunct professor at the Texas Wesleyan University. He is now Professor of Organ at Yonsei University in Seoul.
